Annual Order applications
Keep in mind that there are 159 counties in Georgia, and each has at least two courts, and most have three or four, that you could be asked to serve process for, and the vast majority do NOT offer ANNUAL or PERMANENT appointments of process servers. Simply be prepared with an efficient internal workflow for getting SPECIAL appointment into any case. The Motion, Affidavit of Process Server, and proposed Order templates are available in the Library.
Some courts recognize the server orders of other courts, like most Magistrate Courts recognize the Orders of their Superior Court, per OCGA 15-10-43. A few State Courts do, too, ie. Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton, and Paulding, by issuing their own Standing Order. BE SURE TO LOOK for Standing Orders issued by these Courts, as many require them to be filed with every Affidavit of Service along with your Superior Court Order.
Other courts may issue annual or permanent Orders for process servers, but only by special Motion. Often this is a great way to be appointed by circuit courts, covering the courts in several counties. For instance, the Augusta Judicial Circuit is comprised of the Richmond and Burke County Courts. Always call the Superior Court Clerk to find out their requirements. Most will require a Motion for Permanent Appointment and proposed Order be submitted, with supporting documents, and sometimes a filing fee. Supporting documents should include a copy of your Drivers License, GA CPS Identification Card, and a recent GA criminal background report. Of course, Certification is NOT REQUIRED by statute for special, annual or permanent orders of appointment, but if you are Certified, it helps put you at the front of the line.
